Our Priest - The Reverend Canon Ruthanne Ward

The Reverend Canon Ruthanne Ward has been at Ascension since January 2018. She was ordained a priest in 2009 and prior to that worked in ministry as lay associate at various churches and as a chaplain at York University. She has two daughters, one in high school the other in university. She grew up in the Toronto area and attended a United Church. While at McGill University in Montreal she joined the Anglican Church and described that experience as a 'homecoming'. Her passion in ministry is how the local parish church connects with the larger community, offering experiences of spirituality for those who do not engage the regular worshiping community for whatever reason. When she is not at the church she is a voracious reader of all kinds of writing, does a bit of writing on her own and occasionally finds the time to be creative with painting, knitting or sewing. Going for a walk or a hike is her go to for stress relief.
