We are very pleased to announce that we have hired Michelle Kettrick as our new music director.
Michelle comes to us with a passion for leading and teaching music. She has extensive experience directing choirs and being involved in church music. She is a gifted musician and vocalist.
Michelle has been leading us musically through the summer and will now be with us for a trial period until Christmas. We are looking forward to having Michelle as a part of our worship experience. When you get a chance, do introduce yourself and welcome her to our community.
Thank you for the wonderful experience I have had at Ascension this summer, and I look forward to continuing to share in Music Ministry with you.
A little about me…. I’m married to another musician and I have 3 lovely children. I hold a MM in Performance, an AA in Jazz and have studied in both the States and Canada. I have been working in performance for decades (some notable engagements include the Elmer Isler Singers, Opera in Concert, Music for Sunday Mass on CTV, and various recordings on Naxos).
As a director, I have conducted choirs of all ages and sizes in school, concert and liturgical settings in varied styles and genres and have not been shy to write and arrange for these ensembles. Aside from teaching music in a Toronto Performing Arts High School, I have also had my own studio, taught at summer camps (Northern Arizona University, North Dakota International Peace Camp) adjudicated festivals (NATS, TCDSB Music Festival) and participated in curriculum writing and recording projects (OMEA). I have worked in many churches in both the States and Canada in a variety of denominations, and look very forward to getting to know all of you through our sharing in Music Ministry!
