We have chosen to cancel in-person services for Christmas Eve this year. As we await, today, the announcement of the Ontario Government, it is likely we had no choice in the matter. Nonetheless, we came to this decision after careful consideration and prayer, but with a very heavy heart. As we listen to the recommendations (and pleas) of various health officials around the province we felt that there was absolutely no reason to take any chance with a public gathering at this time. While the number of cases are low in our area, this is the time for us to take action and keep it that way.
We know this will come as a profound disappointment to many of you. We thank you for your prayers and your understanding.
Our intention is to put together an online service that you can visit at your convenience to celebrate this special time of year (an email will go out to the parish list with the details later this week).
We encourage you to reach out to others in our parish, especially those who are alone, to wish them a Merry Christmas. Let us all care for one another in the ways we can while we pray for those working through Christmas on the front-lines of this pandemic.
As more information is shared with us from the provincial government and the Diocese of Toronto, we will share with you the ways in which we can be community for each other in these challenging times.
Wishing you a blessed Christmas,
The Reverend Canon Ruthanne Ward (Incumbent)
Glynnice Avery, Anne Paré, Gillian Daly, Occo Van Tijn (Wardens)
