In September we started a new "service" we call Dinner Church.  Some of you have had a chance to visit and see what it is all about.  We've hosted around 20 - 25 people each time.

This is an informal gathering.  We do a little bit of church with a shortened eucharist, a shared story from the life of Jesus, and a couple of songs sung together to get us warmed up.  A glass of wine (or water or juice), a piece of bread from the eucharitic celebration and then a "help yourself" buffet are shared.

This month we are trying something new - a pot luck.  Not everyone will need to bring food, but for those who can and would like to, there is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board at church with what is needed.

Everyone participates as they are able - whether in setting up, leading the singing, offering food, helping to clean up, offering a listening ear around the table.

We have room for up to 30 people each time.

Consider joining us one of these evenings to see what it is all about.  We hope that people who either are not able to attend on Sunday mornings, or are more comfortable in a less formal environment, will find community and care around the table.  Those who have attended have found it to be a wonderful way in which to get to know others in the community that they would normally not have a chance to be in conversation with.

Sign up at church, or email me, Ruthanne, at ruthanne@ascensionportperry.com if you'd like to join us on November 24th.

We gather around 4:30 and usually get underway shortly before 5.  Look forward to seeing some of you there!
