For the next seven days, people and churches and communities around the world will participate in the annual event known as "The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity". Every year it is an important event, but perhaps it feels all the more important this year in a world torn apart by Covid-19 and physical distancing, by nationalism and extremist mobs, by loneliness and fear.
I encourage you to explore the website produced by the Canadian Council of Churches. There is great history, stories and links to biblical and prayer resources.

If you'd like to spend time in prayer and thought, use the bible study resource provided for the week. You can find it here: Bible Study Resource
Join us for Bible Study this week as we explore the theme "Abide in my Love and you shall bear much Fruit" (John 15:5-9) and offer prayer together with our sisters and brothers throughout the world. Email Ruthanne (ruthanne@ascensionportperry.com) to receive the Zoom link. Bible Study is on Wednesday at 10 am.
And pray. Let us all pray! In whatever way we are able and feel called to do so. Remembering that God "can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine..."
From Day 1 of the WPCU...
Jesus Christ, you seek us, you wish to offer us your friendship and lead us to a life that is ever more complete. Grant us the confidence to answer your call so that we may be transformed and become witnesses of your tenderness for the world. Amen.
