Opening Hymn:
Collect Prayer:
Jesus, when you rode into Jerusalem the people waved palms with shouts of acclamation. Grant that when the shouting dies we may still walk beside you even to the cross.
Traditional Palm Sunday and Passion Readings:
Reading (from which the following reflection is based upon) - Philippians 2:5-11
5 Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,
6 who, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God
as something to be exploited,
7 but emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
being born in human likeness.
And being found in human form,
8 he humbled himself
and became obedient to the point of death—
even death on a cross.
9 Therefore God also highly exalted him
and gave him the name
that is above every name,
10 so that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bend,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue should confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen
Prayer of Continuing On
As we have gathered in spirit this day, celebrating your triumphal entry, we confess the grief we feel at the loss of being together, the loss of voices lifted in praise together, the loss of celebration in the midst of this valley filled with shadow.
Yet, we pray, let the hope that has been stirred within multiply and grow. Though our Hosanna`s sound quieter this year, let the promise they hold of your resurrection echo through all the earth.
And lead us in faith, however weak, through this difficult time - reminded that Holy Week was one of struggle, loss, potential despair. The discples could not see what was coming, nor can we. Lead us Good Lord, Lord of Life and Resurrection, Lord who journeys with us through all the valleys and shadows.
Amen.
