This week we have learned of the 215 unmarked graves found at a former residential school in Kamloops. It is easy to feel overwhelmed when confronted with the tragedy of this discovery. It is also easy to feel disconnected wondering how can we make any difference in this time and place.
We cannot change the past, but we can acknowledge it. In front of the church there is a chair, and on the chair an orange shirt signifying solidarity with the Indigenous people. Please feel free to join us and bring children’s shoes to this site as a small mark of respect and mourning for all the young lives lost, not only in Kamloops, but in all the residential schools.
