Dear Ascension Parishioners,
     By now, many of you will have heard that I will be retiring as Music Director at the end of June.  In many ways  I am very sad to leave, but feel that the time has come.  I am retiring and will not be seeking another position elsewhere.  I will miss all of you.
     One of the many joys that I’ve had working at Ascension has been in leading the congregation and choir in the singing of hymns.  Your singing really fills the church and, from where I sit, it is just beautiful.  Ascension is a “singing” church!  Therefore, before I leave, and with the choir’s help, I would like to hold a Hymn Festival at the Church on Sunday, June 19th at 2 pm.  This will be a fundraising event for the church and an opportunity to sing lots of well-loved hymns.  You are asked to select a hymn or (hymns) that you would like to have sung from the Common Praise Hymn Book.  You can dedicate your selected hymn(s) in memory of or in honour of a loved one or friend.  Programs will be printed with the hymn title, the donor’s name, and the name of the person to whom the dedication is being made.  The amount of your donation will be kept confidential.  Please donate any amount you wish to the church by e-transfer (office@ascensionportperry.com), by cash, or by cheque. 
     You are invited to fill out the Hymn Request Form below, and submit it to the church by June 12th. (You can download it from the attachment at the end of the letter.) This event is open to all church members along with their families and friends.  It will also be live-streamed on YouTube. Forms can be left for me in the Offertory basket at the back of the church or can be emailed to me at the church.
     Please plan to attend this event and to sing, but if you cannot attend, please submit your hymn request anyway; it will be sung.  I anticipate that it will be enjoyable and uplifting experience for everyone!
     Thank you, Ascension, for all the kindness, friendship, and love that you have shown to me during my time here.  I will never forget you.
