Canon David Clark
The Rev. Canon J. David Clark comes to our midst with a diverse background of serving the Church and its people as well as the large community.
Father David grew up in Owen Sound, Ontario. David’s father was the Hospital Administrator for a large and growing district hospital. As a young man, David developed a compassion for, and interest in, serving those who needed emotional assistance and spiritual support.
He attended the University of Manitoba, St. John’s College, where he received both a Batchelor of Arts Degree and Master of Divinity Degree.
Father David began his ministry in the Diocese of Brandon, serving a three point charge, then in working with the Bishop as Administrative Assistant and Secretary of Synod.
In 1971, Father David was accepted into the Clinical Pastoral Education Program in Houston, Texas. Following the completion of the one year Internship, he returned to Winnipeg to become Staff Chaplain at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre. During this time he completed his Master of Sacred Theology Degree at the University of Winnipeg.
In 1979, Father David moved to Ontario to become Regional Coordinator, Chaplaincy Services, for the province.
When ‘retired’, Father David served as Associate Priest at St. Margaret’s, Barrie, then Honourary Assistant at St. George’s, Pickering Village, and providing pastoral service to retired clergy and their families on behalf of Bishop Linda Nicholls.
Father David has served as Interim Priest at St. Aidan’s, the Beach.
He is now our Interim Priest in Charge, here at Ascension.
Father David and his wife enjoy their three adult children and their families.
He enjoys skiing, sailing, music and dabbling in art.
